During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill.Mark Steyn commented: "As for optimum bill size, the 1773 Tea Act, which provoked the Boston Tea Party, was 2,263 words. That sounds about right."
“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.
“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
I'd like to agree, but I can't. It's time to finally conclude the situation is hopeless.
This is a clear sign that Congress needs to be shut down, indefinitely. No new bills. No new actions on anything, for any purpose other than to declare war if the country is attacked. It's past time to reduce the Leviathan. It's time to end it.

Congress - the opposite of progress - is the only part of government I'm in favor of expanding...at as little expense as possible:
First, they all have to work for minimum wage, part time. Lose that golden fleece retirement plan they have now and go on the same socialistic insecurity they've sentenced the rest of U.S. to. 5,350 members bare minimum. Spread out across the country in smaller committees closer to the people and further from the freaking worthless lobbyists and special interests. Caps on how much time they can spend grandstanding before the cameras and mics. All expenses must be documented. We're talking 6-Sigma or ISO standard, for public record, available on request.
And it can't be a damned career, anymore!
